Location
The cottage is within our property, St Raphaels, on the outskirts of the village of Buxted, known as Pound Green. Situated close to Uckfield in the heart of the Sussex High Weald. Just 40 minutes from Gatwick Airport, 1 hour 30 from Heathrow and 30 mins to the Coast. Brighton ( 22 miles ) Royal Tunbridge Wells ( 15 miles ) Lewes ( 12 miles ) and Rye ( 32 miles ) and Eastbourne ( 23 miles ).
By Road we are off the A272, main roads from London are either by A22 or M25, M23. Central London is reached in about 1½ hours.
Buxted Station is 2 minutes drive from the cottage or a 15 minute walk. A train runs every hour into London Bridge and the journey takes about 1hour and 15 mins.(There are more trains during peak times).
From Mainland Europe we are about 1½ hours from the Channel Tunnel / Eurostar terminal at Folkestone making Calais in France just two hours away.
Places of Interest are within easy reach of many National Trust properties and gardens, Leeds Castle, Batemans, Sissinghurst & Great Dixter.
Ideally located for visiting Glyndebourne (opera), cycling on the Cuckoo trail, sailing at Bewl Water, golf at The East Sussex National, Piltdown or Crowborough, riding on Ashdown Forest.
The well known gastro pubs Blackboys and The Griffin are within easy reach.
